Melissa: Can you first introduce your self, your band, and what you do in your band?
Josh: I’m Josh. I play guitar?
Hayley: Hey. I’m Hayley. I sing and we’re in Paramore.

Melissa: How did your band come up with the name Paramore?
Josh: It’s our friend’s mom’s maiden name. It’s kind of weird.
Hayley: We liked the way it sounded. After, when we decided we were going to use it we looked it up and found out it’s got a lot of really cool meanings.

Melissa: I know you guys are pretty young. How do you feel your life now compares to life as the average teen?
Josh: It’s way different. I don’t know. I think at times we feel like we’re missing out on stuff but at the same time we’re not! We’re touring the world and tons of teenagers would die to see what we’ve seen

Melissa: What's the thing you miss most about being a “normal” teen?
Hayley: I would say home. We’ve talked about this a lot. Home has become more of a feeling than a place because when we go home it’s kind of like escaping than resting. I think we all just miss that feeling of being home and knowing that everything is in it’s place. It’s familiar.

Melissa: So there aren’t that many female lead singers. Does this affect your band. Do you feel that it makes you work harder or does it make you stand out?
Hayley: I think that we can take it both ways. Our band has never really let the fact that I’m a girl hinder us or make us feel like we’re better. We kind of ignore it in a weird way. I think that if you go out there saying, “we’re this” you give yourself limitations. We’re just a rock band. The fact that I’m a girl, we just accept it. We can’t change it.

Melissa: Do you feel like your fans are afraid that a Gwen Stefani thing might happen where Hayley breaks of and does her own thing?
Josh: You never know what’s going to happen. Hayley is not the type to do that really. We all love each other and we love being in a band. We don’t really see the point of solo projects. This is the band and this is what we’re going to push.

Melissa: Can you describe each member of the band in three words?
Hayley: Zach is clumsy, hilarious, and nice. I was going to say the nicest guy you’ll ever meet, but that is more than three words.
Josh: Hunter is slow, lazy, but really chill.
Hayley: Jeremy is…you do Jeremy!
Josh: Jeremy is… damn. Jeremy likes girls. That’s two words.
Hayley: 21. That’s one!
Josh: He likes girls and he’s really artistic and ghetto.
Hayley: Josh is genius, focused, and high strung
Josh: Hayley is courageous, bold, and she can be sort of moody sometimes, which is probably because there are no other girls in the band.

Melissa: How would you describe your music to someone who had never heard it before?
Hayley: Energetic, emotional, and fun. OH! Three words!

Melissa: What's your favorite song to play off your album or EP?
Josh: I like playing “Pressure”
Hayley: “Pressure” is really cool. We’ve been opening with it on Warped Tour. It’s great to be able to come out, hit those first notes and have kids be like “YEAH!!!” It’s the one they know the most and it’s awesome.

Melissa: Do you have any influences, either musically or otherwise?
Josh: Jimmy Eat World, Underoath
Hayley: I really respect Josh Scogin from The Chariot. He is so fearless and he never backs down. I love that and I think that’s really cool.

Melissa: Now funny questions. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Josh: Fly! Just think about it. If I was here and I wanted to go to In-N-Out burger or something, I could just fly. I wouldn’t have to worry about cars, trains, and busses. I could just fly.
Hayley: We were talking. This morning, Josh came with me. I had to do this photo for a magazine with Sonny from First To Last and he was talking about superpowers. He was like “The best superpower ever would be if you could turn sea cucumbers into milk!” I want something really random. I would want something like that, something super random and kind of useless. But when someone found me when they really needed me, I would know like it was special and real.

Melissa: If you could choose an animal to represent your band as a mascot, what would it be?
Hayley: Didn’t we talk about this one day?
Josh: Yeah but I don’t really think we got anywhere…
Hayley: I think it was something like a water buffalo or something.
Josh: Was it?
Hayley: I like penguins?
Josh: yeah Penguins are cool! Penguins!
Hayley: They’re short like most of us and they waddle.

Melissa: Do you have any last words that you would like to share?
Josh: Keep on surfing that web.
Hayley: Paramore.net!
